Mumbai: The Cine And TV Artists Association (CINTAA) terminated the work permit of Dera Sacha Sauda chief and rape convict Gurmeet Ram Rahim Singh, on grounds of criminality and moral turpitude. Following this, the Indian Film & Television Directors' Association (IFTDA) also cancelled Ram Rahim's licence after the verdict was announced.Meanwhile, the verified Twitter account of Ram Rahim Singh was also “withheld“ in India on Friday morning, which means that none of his followers in India will be able to either access his account or see his tweets. He had over 3.6 million followers on Twitter.

Fifteen years after he raped two of his female disciples, Ram Rahim was sentenced to 20 years in jail for rape and criminal intimidation and fined `30 lakh. He was sentenced to 10 years of imprisonment in each of the two instances of rape. The sentences will run consecutively .
