Islamabad High Court suspends imprisonment of Sharif, Maryam, her husband

ISLAMABAD: The Islamabad High Court (IHC) suspended on Wednesday the imprisonment terms of the prime minister Nawaz Sharif, his daughter Maryam Nawaz, son in law Captain (r) Safdar.

The two-member bench ordered the former premier, his daughter and son-in-law to submit the bail bonds of worth Rs 0.5 million each.

Nawaz Sharif, Maryam Nawaz, Captain (r) Safdar had filed a plea challenging the Avenfield verdict against them and the appeal has been accepted today.

A two-member bench, comprising of Justice Athar Minallah and Justice Miangul Hassan Aurangzeb, heard the plea today.

A bench comprised of Justice Athar Minallah and Justice Miangul Hassan Aurangzeb gave the judgment on pleas filed by Nawaz, Maryam and Capt (r) Safdar against the Avenfield conviction.

The two-member bench ordered the former premier, his daughter and son-in-law to submit the bail bonds of worth Rs 0.5 million each.

National Accountability Bureau (NAB) prosecutor Akram Qureshi concluded his arguments in the case.
