NAATAK In Chicago, Debuts With Spellbindng “Hum Jeete Ji Masroof Rahe.”

CHICAGO – Sabra Darugar, the Producer at the North American Asian Theater Arts and Kulture presented a one-of-its-kind Light, sound and dance show titled “Hum Jeete Ji Masroof Rahe.” Its based on the narratives and works of legendry Faiz Ahmed Faiz. Sabra welcomed Pakistan Consul General Javed Umrani and Deputy Consul General Ms Rabia Shafiq.

 

The live stage program comprised a narrative by sutradhar Amein Haider who himself was its script writer. He is also the co-Producer of this show. The engrossing narrative had been intricately woven with Faiz Ahmed Faiz’s gazals by Mastereo duo Vikas Falnikar and Divya Khandekar.

 

Furthermore, much to the awe of the jam-packed theater, the complete sequence was embedded with regal Kathak performances by Chicago-based Nritya Natya Academy’s  famous Kathak exponent Ms Madhura Sane. She regaled the audience with her intricate classical maneuvers performed to ongoing poetic explanations of the Faiz school of thought. Madhura Sane started her performance with traditional Kathak repertoire ‘Nritta;’ and followed it by ‘Nritya’ where she applied her Kathak expertise in ‘Khyaal.’ ‘Thumri.’ and ‘Drupad’ to the Gazals of Faiz Ahmed Faiz.

 

The program was held on 11 January 2020 evening, in the grand auditorium of the Prairie Center for the Arts in Schaumburg, Illinois. The NAATAK (North American Asian Theater Arts & Kulture) supported that started with a documentary film on Faiz. Ms Naseem Ali Bhai and Ms Shirin Marvi were the master of ceremony.

Faiz Ahmed Faiz was a Pakistani Marxist poet and author. He is one of the most celebrated writers of the Urdu language in the Indian subcontinent.

 

Most notable singers and performers from the Chicago performed live in Stage Chicago as part of stage program “Hum Jeete Ji Masroof Rahe” The evening was enhanced by the live musical and Kathak dance performances by Madhura Sane.

Amein Haider effectively introduced the story of a chapter of Faiz's life and also read several of Faiz's poems.

Amein Haider also highlighted the life history and the story of Faiz Ahmed Faiz. He said, “Faiz is the one of the most famous poets of the continent, Faiz was jailed and banished from Pakistan several times and military dictator. During his jailed time he wrote several hit Poems.”

 

Renowned vocalist Divya Khandekar sung numerous songs. She sang several of Faiz’s poems including the all-time-great “Mujh se pehli si muhabbat” and “Hum Dekhenge.”

 

Mumtaz Ali Khan accompanied on tabla. Mumtaz is the best Tabla Nawaz in Chicago. Shehazad Markaz accompanied on Keyboard. Suhas Gosavi did excellent job while directing the stage lighting and the Scene Designing.

 

At the end of the show organizer Sabra Darugar came up to the stage, introduced her team, and invited Consul General of Pakistan Javed Umrani to speak to the audience. She thanked the audience, volunteers, and supporters.
