Bombay HC tells BMC it cannot leave Kangana Ranaut’s property as it is; actress says ‘my heart is healed'

Mumbai: The Bombay High Court on Thursday said that it cannot leave Hindi cinema actress Kangana Ranaut’s demolished property as it is. The court told the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC), that razed a part of the actress’s Pali Hill office in Mumbai’s Bandra, that while it was fast in razing down her property why was its counsel seeking more time to file an affidavit.

Responding to BMC lawyer's request for further hearing on Monday, September 28, Justice Kathawalla said, “You need more time. Otherwise you are very fast.” The court gave time till next Tuesday to Shiv Sena chief spokesperson Sanjay Raut and the BMC’s designated officer to file responses before they present their arguments.

The division bench of Justice SJ Kathawalla and Justice RI Chagla said that it will begin hearing the case tomorrow, September 25. “We cannot leave property to be left in a demolished state and the way it is. In view of the condition of the bungalow, which is partly demolished and monsoon, we cannot allow the matter to be heard later,” the bench observed.

Further, the division bench of Justice SJ Kathawalla and Justice RI Chagla said that it will begin hearing the case tomorrow, September 25. “We cannot leave property to be left in a demolished state and the way it is. In view of the condition of the bungalow, which is partly demolished and monsoon, we cannot allow the matter to be heard later,” the bench observed.

Reacting to the order, Kangana Ranaut expressed joy on Twitter. “Honourable Justice HC, this brought tears to my eyes, in the lashing rains of Mumbai my house is indeed falling apart, you thought about my broken house with so much compassion and concern means a lot to me, my heart is healed thank you for giving me back all that I had lost,” she posted on the microblogging website.

On September 9, the day the actress was to return from her Manali house, the BMC razed down alleged "illegal alterations" at her office and some other articles inside the property. Hours after it was demolished, the high court had stayed the demolitionat Ranaut’s Pali Hill office.
