US approves $1.867 billion Integrated Air Defense Weapon System Sale to India

WASHINGTON – USA has made a determination approving a possible Foreign Military Sale to India of an Integrated Air Defense Weapon System (IADWS) for an estimated cost of $1.867 billion.  The Defense Security Cooperation Agency delivered the required certification notifying Congress of this possible sale on February 7, 2020.

• Finance Minister led the Indian delegation to the IMF/ World Bank Annual Meetings 2019 held in Washington DC this week. On the side-lines of the Annual Meetings, she also attended the Finance Ministers and Central Bank Governors meetings of the G20 and the BRICS. She took this opportunity to also interact with industrial and institutional investors in New York and in Washington DC and hold bilateral meetings with Finance Ministers of some countries and others. There were 30 meetings of the World Bank/ IMF/ G20/ BRICS, investors and bilateral meetings.
No US visa for immigrants who can't pay for health insurance

WASHINGTON —US President Trump has issued a proclamation, effective Nov. 3, ordering consular officers to bar immigrants seeking to live in the United States unless they “will be covered by approved health insurance” or can prove that they have “the financial resources to pay for reasonably foreseeable medical costs.”

Abducted NRI Found Dead In His Car

WASHINGTON - Abducted California based millionaire NRI Tushar Atre has been found dead inside his BMW car. Atre, 50—owner of digital marketing company AtreNet Inc which caters to Silicon Valley corporate businesses—was kidnapped from his house around 3 am "during a crime" on Tuesday, the Santa Cruz county sheriff's office said, adding that he was last seen getting into his white BMW.

NGOs Form India Philanthropy Alliance

11 of the US-based not-for-profit organizations have joined hands to form the India Philanthropy Alliance which shall aim to enhance collaboration to augument India’s development, a press release said. The organizations are: Akanksha Fund, American India Foundation, Arogya World, CRY America, Dasra, Ekal USA, Foundation for Excellence, Indiaspora, Magic Bus USA, Pratham USA, and VisionSpring.


CONNECTICUT - Norwalk Public Library in Connecticut unveiled India Collection at its main library at One Belden Ave on Sunday, November 15th. The books were donated by Govt. of India. It was an initiative of the Connecticut Chapter of the Global Organization of People of Indian Origin (GOPIO-CT).
