Days after the Maharashtra state government allowed certain outdoor physical activities, Mumbaikars on Sunday flouted social distancing norms as they came out of their homes for morning and evening walks at the Marine Drive area.

People were seen wearing masks but no social distancing norms were followed.

State Reserve Police Force (SRPF) personnel, who have been deployed at the Marine Drive area, were seen asking people to maintain social distancing while enjoying their morning and evening walks.

However, after 7 pm Marine Drive wore a deserted look after the police officials asked people to vacate the area as the state government has allowed outdoor physical activity between 5 am to 7 pm.

Giving some relief to the people from the curbs on movement, the state government earlier this week had allowed outdoor physical activities like morning walks and cycling to resume in Maharashtra.

The state government also said that public places can be used for individual exercises, as part of the 'Mission Begin Again' guidelines.

Under "Mission Begin Again", all markets, market areas and shops, except malls, were allowed to open from June 5 on the odd-even basis in non-containment zones across Maharashtra. However, religious places, shopping malls, hotels and restaurants will continue to remain closed till June 30
