A gunman who held hostages inside a Texas synagogue on Saturday demanded the release of Aafia Siddiqui, the Pakistani neuroscientist serving an 86-year sentence for trying to kill American officers in Afghanistan.
She studied at the Brandeis University and the MIT. Siddiqui was the first woman to be suspected of Al-Qaeda links by the US, but never convicted of it.
