India bought record 1.96 million barrels of oil per day from Russia in May, data from energy cargo tracker Vortexa showed.
This is more than the combined oil India bought from Saudi Arabia, Iraq, UAE and US.
Russian imports made up for 42% of all crude oil imported by India, the highest share for an individual country in recent years.
