Keeping our immunity strong is the top priority right now. With the second wave of coronavirus pandemic wreaking havoc in our lives, the only ways to stay safe is by staying at home, getting vaccinated and keeping our immune system in good shape.

While we all are aware of how drinking kadhas and popping multivitamins can help, in this article, we will tell you six easy food habits to boost your immunity.

Getting enough sleep

When we sleep, our body goes through 5 stages of sleep where it repairs the tissues, muscles, cleanses the system, builds neuronic pathways - in short when we sleep our body is rejuvenated.

Make sure to get 7-8 hours of undisturbed sleep every night. The habit can help strengthen your immunity. Humans who don't sleep enough usually are more prone to getting infections and diseases.

Deep breathing exercises

Deep breathing when done regularly can help and repair the vagus nerve. The vagus nerve is the longest nerve in the human body that connects the brain and the digestive system. It ensures optimum digestion, absorption and improves our immunity.

Eat healthy

Do not just follow any diet blindly. Not all diets suit everyone. Figure out foods that work for your digestive system and help in reducing inflammation levels (fatigue, headache, energy levels).

Try to keep your cravings to a minimum.

Haldi

You can consume turmeric as a supplement and also in raw form. But make sure to have it with a pinch of pepper to get the nutrients absorbed from haldi better.

Cinnamon

Cinnamon has antioxidants and antibacterial properties. You can add it to your tea, curries or just crush and have some with honey to soothe a dry cough or itchy throat.

Ginger and lemon

Ginger contains gingerol, which helps in fighting infections. Lemon, as we all know is rich in vitamin C and thus helps in keeping our immune system strong.

Tulsi leaves

Soak tulsi leaves in drinking water to get that fresh taste and boost your immunity. You can also add tulsi to your regular tea or kadha for that added flavour and health benefits.

Giloy

Giloy is a powerful anti-inflammatory herb that has various immunity benefits. You can find fresh giloy, boil it in water, strain and have it. If you cannot find fresh giloy, you can also consume giloy tablets that are now easily available in the market.
