Russian President Vladimir Putin and his Chinese counterpart Xi Jinping termed US' Summit for Democracy as "counterproductive".
The two leaders, who held a virtual meeting on Wednesday, mutually agreed that the summit had divided the international community.
"[The leaders] were unanimous in their assessments that the event was...confrontational," a Russian presidential aide said.
