34th Indian Oil Servo Surjit Hockey Tournament inaugurated by Aruna Choudhary

Jalandhar October 23, 2017:Rail Coach Factory Kapurthala beat Haryana XI in the Opening encounter of 34th Indian Oil Servo Surjit Hockey Tournament by 4-0 in Pool B in women section here at Olympian Surjit Hockey Stadium. In the second match in women section CRPF Delhi beat UCO Bank by 3-1 in Pool A. Earlier Mrs Aruna Choudhary Education Minister Punjab inaugurated the tournament. Olympian Pargat Singh MLA Jalandhar Cantt,   Rajinder Beri MLA, Bawa Henry MLA and General Manager Indian Oil Kamal Kunj presided over the function. Chief Guest announced Rs 3 Lakhs Grant for the Surjit Hockey Society.

Rail Coach Factory Kapurthala beat Haryana XI by 4-0

CRPF Delhi beat UCO Bank by 3-1

In inaugural match in Pool B Rail Coach Factory Kapurthala and Haryana XI displayed good hockey. In the 21st minute of the play RCF’s Manmeet Kaur converted the first penalty corner (1-0). At half time Rail Coach Factory was leading by 1-0.  

In second half’s 38th minute RCF girls earned another penalty corner, once again Manmeet Kaur sounded the board to consolidate (2-0). In the 65th minute RCF’s Shivani Singh netted the ball from the cross of Lalruatfeli (3-0).In the very next minute RCF’s Priyanka Wankhde scored the field goal (4-0).  

In Pool A of Women Section CRPF Delhi and UCO Bank displayed defensive game. In the 33rd minute of the play CRPF girl mounted pressure on UCO Bank, their Captain Puja Yadav gave a pass to Kanchan, she made not any mistake to sound the board (1-0). In the dying minutes of the first half UCO Bank earned first penalty corner, their International star Jaspreet Kaur converted it to equalize (1-1). At Half time both teams were leveled at 1-1.

In second half’s 47th minute  CRPF girls able to earn first penalty stroke when their captain Puja Yadav stopped wrongly in the striking circle by UCO Bank’s defender jaspreet kaur in front of the goal mouth. CRPF’s Pragya Mourya netted the ball to get lead (2-1). In the 58th minute of the play CRPF Pricilla Tirkey gave deflection from the cross of Sidhhi Singh from the right flank to complete the score sheet (3-1). After that UCO girls missed two penalty corners.
