Chandigarh, December 26, 2017: Chandigarh University Gharuan has lifted the overall championship trophy in the All India Inter-University Weightlifting & Powerlifting Championship 2017 (Men) while Punjab University Chandigarh bagged the overall trophy of the All India Inter-university Weightlifting Championship 2017 (Women). Team from University of Calicut bagged the runner-up position in the men’s category while women’s team of Chandigarh University Gharuan bagged the runner-up position in the championship.

Gauri Pandey & Mukul Sharma best lifter in the All India Inter-University Championship Trophy 2017

Gauri Pandey of VBSPU Jaunpur who bagged Gold in the 53 kg was adjudged as the best weightlifter in the women’s category, while Mukul Sharma of Chandigarh University Ghauran won the best weightlifter in the men’s category of the championship. Mukul Sharma had won Gold in the 69 kg category of the Inter-University Championship.

Team from Punjab University, Chandigarh also bagged the overall championship trophy of the All India Inter-University Best Physique Championship 2017, while Chandigarh University Gharuan finished 2nd runner-up in the championship.  Nilin Satheesh of Rajiv Gandhi Health Science University, Bangalore was adjudged as Mr. AIIU 2017 title in the Best Physique Championship.    

The 4-day All India Inter-University Weightlifting, Powerlifting and Best Physique Championship 2017 concluded today at Chandigarh University campus with award ceremony.  Prem Chand Dhingra, World Armature Bodybuilding Champion along with Vice-Chancellor Dr. R.S Bawa Chandigarh University, Mohali gave medals to the winners.
